Sweethearts

‘Sweethearts’ is a collection of three small artworks, each depicting a couple in their sitting room. As a collector of charity shop curios, I often come across porcelain pairs of dandy-looking, Georgian-esque ornaments—and over time, I’ve amassed quite a few in my personal collection of “tat”. I find them wonderfully novel and camp, which is why they’ve appeared multiple times in my work.

These figures have become a recognisable motif throughout the collection, so it felt fitting to dedicate a series to them. Unlike most of my pieces, which are typically large (around one metre in size), these works are more intimate in scale. I wanted to create something smaller and more collectable, artworks that are ideal for a gallery wall or a cosy corner of the home.
