A Journey into Memory & Fantasy

‘Inner Worlds’ is Emma’s first major collection. It is a 25-piece body of work exploring themes of legacy and escapism. The collection is divided into two distinct types of artworks, both digitally constructed and deeply inspired by Emma’s two grans’ colourful, whimsical homes and her passion for collecting “charity shop tat.”

The first type consists of large-scale dreamscape paintings inspired by Joseph Noel Paton and Eyvind Earle. During the creation process, Emma immersed herself in Paton’s work, attending his exhibition at Carnegie Galleries in Dunfermline and visiting his A Midsummer Night’s Dream paintings at the Scottish National Gallery. Earle’s stylised landscapes and rich patterns in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty also profoundly inform these thriving, narrative-driven scenes.

The second type focuses on design and pattern-based collage artworks. Inspired by Tibetan thangkas, mandalas, and domestic still life painting traditions. These pieces act as meditative spaces, inviting viewers to pause, explore intricate detail, and reflect.

The first ten pieces of this collection will be available to purchase on 15th August, with the remaining fifteen to follow in the subsequent weeks.

Emma’s work invites viewers into layered worlds that offer: both sanctuary and challenge; providing spaces where comfort and discomfort coexist; and where collective stories quietly unfold.
