Pause, take it all in

Pause, take it all in

Inspired by Tibetan thangkas, this open-ended series invites stillness and focus. Many elements are reimagined from charity shop finds, personal keepsakes, and my own evolving pattern library.

Why “Meditation Symphonies”?

Like a musical symphony, each piece brings together many elements in harmony: a collection of small details that together create something much greater. Some are quiet and serene, others joyful and bright, but all are rooted in the meditative process of making and the intention to offer a moment of stillness to the viewer.

Meditation Symphonies

At the heart of each symphony is a unique composition: sometimes a vase (often imagined or loosely based on my own handmade pottery), sometimes an ornate frame or pattern. Flowers often feature, but so do strange ornaments, unexpected animals, and personal objects gathered from memory, dreams, or chance encounters in charity shops.

The backgrounds are layered with my own original patterns. I create my patterns as a meditative exercise when I’m feeling creatively blocked. These patterns help me find rhythm and playfulness, and they’ve become a defining feature of the series.

This body of work is open-ended and will grow over time. Each piece is its own visual pause — a little escape into colour, detail, and imagination.
